If you want to have some fun dating, try dating different people based on their astrological sign. I decided to try it as an experiment. I didn’t have any idea what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
I got the idea from a girl I dated after my separation. I never put much stock in astrology before, but she was adamant that it had some merit, so I decided to see if there was anything to it.
First I tuned in on myself. I seemed to fit the general idea of a Gemini perfectly: very social, can adapt to any situation, intelligent, great communicator, but also a procrastinator who has trouble sticking to one project. Yep, that was me. To a tee. Then I tuned in on my partner. She was a Pisces. Deeply emotional, extremely sensual, and a dreamer. Yep, fit her to a tee, too.
Intrigued, yet still cautious, I did a little further study on the subject. In order to really understand why you think and act the way you do, there are several other factors that determine your personality other than your sun sign. Although your sun sign determines the foundation of your personality, the moon and other planets, as well as your upbringing and experiences, all play a part. Suddenly everything about personality traits based on astrology began to make a lot of sense to me. I began applying all the information I was gleaning to past relationships (and even friendships) all the way back to high school and was convinced there was a great deal of truth to it.
So is astrology an exact science? No system is perfect, but I would say it’s pretty accurate if you do a detailed analysis of your sun, moon, planetary sign and life experiences, which isn’t always easy, especially when figuring out your partner. The problem with picking out the perfect partner based on astrology is that you really don’t know someone until you KNOW them. And you can’t possibly understand who they really are unless they are very honest with their past. Sure, you can know their sun sign and get a general idea of how they’re going to be, but unless you know their moon sign as well, which reveals more about the inner self, and their past experiences, you’re not always going to get exactly what you’d expect. Realize this and you can explore general personality types based on a sun sign with a fair bit of accuracy, at least for a time.
My advice? Dating someone based on their sun sign can be fun because it’s pretty accurate for first dates and the beginnings of a relationship. After that, a person’s truer personality comes out and everything may not exactly fit unless you have a detailed reading of that person. So have fun with it in the beginning as you go on first dates and even into the first few months of a relationship. If you want to use astrology to further understand someone as the relationship progresses, you’re going to have to put in the extra work of research and communication with your partner.
The purpose of this post isn’t to give you a detailed analysis of every sign. Honestly, I haven’t had the time to explore every sing sign yet, but I can also honestly say I had a lot of fun with the ones that I did. Most dating websites such as Match.com give a person’s sun sign, so it’s easy to find what general personality type you’d like to explore. In most cases, you’re going to get a pretty accurate understanding of someone. Yes, it’s a little superficial because you’re only using their sun sign, but most first dates are somewhat superficial anyway. Most people are a little reserved and don’t reveal their deepest darkest secrets until you get to know each other. From my experience, the most accurate assessments were on the third, fourth, and fifth dates. Sometimes I didn’t go any further, and sometimes they turned into short-term relationships. I also explored a few longer-term relationships. In fact, I used one girl’s sun sign to end a relationship because I knew the personality traits I didn’t like as much were there to stay. Once the deeper conflict started, I gracefully exited and haven’t regretted it since.
By far, the Libra has been my favorite. They’re compassionate, giving, understanding, and like me, an intellectual air sign that spends a lot of time in their head. They’re easy to communicate with, and if you find one that has made good decisions in life and has their act together, they’re very level-headed. They’ll consider both sides of any situation, which Gemini have the uncanny ability to do, and talking with a Libra has been anything but dull for me. I have found that they’re intelligent and passionate about culture, art, and literature. They appreciate emotion and are good at feeling the beauty of life. In the bedroom they are no prude either. They’re passionate about their sexuality. Since they live in their heads often, they’ll go with the flow when it comes to exploration and excitement with the different ideas two people can explore in the bedroom.
By far my most exciting and disappointing experience was Aries. Exciting because in the beginning there was a lot of fire and passion just as the Aries is supposed to be. Most Aries women are fiercely independent with a lot of dominant personality. For me, personally, this was perfect in the beginning. It was easy to predict how she would react to our dating experiences, and I always knew what to expect and how to steer the situation. I felt like I had control and always knew where she stood. It went from a few dates to a short-term relationship fairly quickly. But, just as I feared, her more dominant personality traits held true, and when we got to know each other, we began to clash. I found Aries less compassionate and giving. That’s not a bad thing, because they have other strengths that some guys are very attracted to. I just like someone less rigid and fiery all the time that can go with the flow because it fits my personality. As a Gemini, I can change my mind on a dime if something more new and exciting comes up, whereas this Aries woman especially didn’t understand or appreciate that. I believe for her she saw it as a weakness. But there is one thing that I really appreciated about her – she was fiercely honest and always meant what she said and did. This makes the Aries woman one of the most solid women you’ll find if you’re looking for consistency.
Please remember that this isn’t an exact science unless you’re willing to do a lot of research and you have access to your partner’s past experiences, but overall if you’re just looking to have some fun based on general personality traits, dating someone by their sun sign is a fun experience. So go online, find a sign that you seem most gravitated to (if you’re attracted to that person of course), and give it a try.
